Photo taken 9 Jan 2009. This blue jay is looking at the peanuts for the best one to take. They are very selective and when time permits will drop one and pick up another that must appear better to them.
There are many different kinds of birds who come around to eat at the bird feeder and suet cakes I hung on my patio fence. I have seen blue jays, cardinals, starlings, mourning doves, a Carolina wren, some chickadees [I think - they may be something else], a whole flock of sparrows, and one time a black crow as large as a cat!
There are also four squirrels who come every day and they are a delight to watch - they are so cute the way they chase each other around and they can actually bark! Also, they make me laugh the different ways they contrive to get at the bird feed. I love watching them.
All of my pictures were taken through the patio glass door with a zoom lens. Some of them, unfortunately, have a reflection on them, but the picture is still good, I think.
